    Description

You get one 1.5in case containing 5ctw of gemmy Benitoite crystal. Each stone is below 1carat individually, but may still have facetable material. Benitoite is rare over 1 carat.
Benitoite is the 7th rarest gemstone in the world and the California State Gemstone. Benitoite fluoresces bight blue to white under short wave UV light, but not long wave.
*Note on fluorescence* It may be due to my weak shortwave light, but the stone don't light up inside the cases. If you take them out they do fine, so the glass may be thick enough to block it. Last photo shows the oddity. Results may vary according to your UV setup.
These specimens are old stock from my great grandparents rock shop "Scott's Gems" down in Beaumont, CA. They ran through the 1960's to the 70s and this collection has been preserved from then. Some material found have tags from the 50s, so some material could be even older.
