dazzling and important Dioptase piece from the long closed Christmas Mine in Arizona. It is unusually bright and large crystals for the locality at a uniform 1mm or slightly larger and they are in excellent condition! The tufts and groups of rich green Dioptase crystals scintillate on the off-white granular Calcite matrix that has a faint green tint to it. Most pieces from this mine have micro-Dioptase crystals coatings or smears rather than distinct crystals like these! This is a choice piece for the locality for richness, intense color, contrast, size of undamaged crystals and aesthetics. The crystals are a much richer green than the photos indicate.
