NEVER Been Sharpened...NEVER Been Used...NEVER Been Carried!
The knife is in "Exceptionally Good Condition" for being manufactured in 1979 - and has the Rare placement of the
"1  DOT" blade stamping after the word:  CASE
(this was only done for two years),
According to the book, " American Premium Guide to Knives & Blades" by Jim Sargent... the
date of manufacturing
was 1979.
Remember “Back in their day” these older knives were purchased to be used…
Not
collected, making this great vintage condition difficult to find.

:
This
quality-made USA hunting knife has a slender
steel blade,
with a
1" long
flat "serrated thumb rest"
for better blade control.
The
reflective fixed blade is in
Excellent
Condition
for its age.
This 1979 CASE XX  Knife has only minor light shelf wear and has NEVER Been Sharpened, NEVER Been Used, NEVER Been Carried!
This
5  1/16"
long
clip-point bright
blade has a
false top edge
that could be sharpened, if desired.
The CASE XX hunting/skinning knife also
features fullers or
blood grooves
that measure 1   1/2" inch long.
There are
No blade edge nicks
and the bright vintage  CASE XX  blade is nicely blade etched:

HANDLE

The
leather washer handle
it tight and
has secure
black
and
dark
red
spacers, along with a
shiny aluminum pomm
el.
There is a
tight
aluminum half guard
that measures
1  1/8" long.
The metal guard has a little minor normal age patina and the fittings are in
very good conditio
n for being decades old.
This handsome
brown leather washer handle
is tight with
No looseness
, and the
leather handle spacers are "still in similar condition as when it came from the CASE factory"
...(meaning the lighter brown handle
has Not darkened over the years from handling)

Overall, this CASE  XX 316-5 hunting knife feels well balanced ,solid, and easy to grip, when held in your hand.

SHEATH
:
The companion
CASE  XX leather sheath
has
intact
stitching
,
stiff throat area
,
large belt loop
,
secure metal rivets
, and
working fastening strap with snap.
This vintage sheath has a few light surface scuffs and/or light shelf wear and the working fastening strap has some signs of  handling. The
front of the leather case has the CASE factory's well known tooling lines and is clearly stamped CASE  XX

The old
hunting knife has
a lot of character and vintage appeal....with that slight "
patina of time"
appearance not yet achieved with newer knives.
