    Old hunting knife from Union Cutlery Co. (Ka-Bar). It looks like this one has a chrome plated carbon steel blade, brass guard, stacked leather washer and fiber spacer handle and aluminum butt cap/pommel. It has been carried, used and sharpened carelessly leaving scratches on the blade, probably left in the sheath (long gone, sorry) too long so it developed rust showing through the plating. Handle shows lots of wear, pommel has dings: it's no show piece for the collection. I cleaned it up and sharpened it so that it is usable once again. Like all carbon steel knives, with should be wiped down with food grade mineral oil after use to prevent rust, regardless of the chrome plating, and the leather could use some dressing (I use Obenauf's, but there are plenty of others to choose from).
