    Description

    WELCOME:
    YOU  WILL  LOVE  THIS  KNIFE!
    For your bidding consideration
    :
    a Rare Inverted
    1972  "
    One Year Only Production Run"
    BUCK  121  U.S.A.
    vintage
    hunting Bowie!
One great American-made BUCK Factory Classic
    hunting / skinning knife combo
    from my personal collection.
    This
    Stunning
    Buck 121
    Bowie
    has a
    bright steel fixed
    blade
    with possibly the
    "Original Factory Edge"
    and a
    durable black composite handle
    with
    finger grooves
    .
    The companion
    Buck  121
    flap-over black
    leather sheath
    is also included.
    According to research, the
    production run
    was for
    "One Year Only
    ...
    1972"
    with Buck's combination of the
    4
    Micarta handle spacers
    and the
    3-line "inverted" blade stamping.
    History:
    BUCK started the
3 line "inverted" stamping in 1972
(read with tip pointing down).  The first production knives came with
    "four" Micarta spacers
    in the handle
    (1972) for that year only.
    Then from 1973 - 1980 Buck we
nt to 4 Micarta spacers in the handle but with the 3 line stamping on the right side (and blade tip read pointing up).  Finally, from 1982 through 1986 they went to
    two
    spacers in the handle
    with the 3 line stamping
    .
So, with this knife having the "four
    micarta
spacers"... and with the rare 3-line inverted stamping, the production date would indicate it was
    made in:  1972...with a one-year production only
    .
(Reference book:  "Blades Guide to Knives")
    The blade is stamped:
    B U C K
    1 2 1
Note:  (the stamping is "inverted" -read with knife pointed down)
    U. S. A.
    SIZE:
    The overall size is approx:
    9  7/8"
    long.
    The fixed blade is approx
    :
    5  5/8
    "
    long.
    HANDLE:
    The quality handle design features
    factory finger-grooves (or palm swells)
for a firm yet comfortable grip.  The smooth handle is made of a traditional
    black Phenolic
    with an
    aluminum pommel & guard
    which provides a
perfect combination of beauty and balance
    .
    The
    heavy-duty finger guard
is designed to offer good hand protection and has
    two Micarta spacers
    and
    two aluminum spacer
    s. This
    one-year production 1972 classic Buck 121
    also has
    two black Micarta spacers
    and
    one
    aluminum spacer

    pommel end.
There are some light signs of handling on this beautiful black handle, and it offers a secure, easy grip. This early Buck knife has been carefully stored, and is in
    Exceptionally Good Condition,
    especially when considering
    it is 50 years old.

    upswept blade design
