    RARE GASPEITE - 5 cm - 132 MINE, AUSTRALIA
    This gaspeite comes from one of the few locations in the world where this rare nickel carbonate is found. When thick and solid enough, gaspeite is always in high demand as a gemstone due to its unique color. The Australian outback was the greatest source for this mineral, but now that source is mined out.
    This gaspeite is a section of a vein of massive gaspeite sandwiched between matrix with some gypsum (selenite).  It makes a great miniature specimen for a collector. For lapidary purposes this piece would be best if stabilized. It appears slightly porous and not as hard as some.
