Description
Rare zincolivenite with botryoidal duftite and minor quartz from Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region, Namibia. This was part of a find back in the 1970s or 80s and was a good representation for the species. Also a great combination piece! Although Tsumeb is well known for being both one of the most abundant mineral deposits in the world and having produced some of the highest numbers of different mineral species, quartz is very rarely seen from there, which makes this piece a little more special. The dimensions are 2.4 by 5.5 by 3.7 cm.I originally purchased this specimen with the label cuprian adamite, however after some research I have now come to the conclusion that it is instead zincolivenite. Zincolivenite is the
intermediate member of the solid solution series between olivenite and adamite, and structurally nearly indistinguishable from adamite. It is still important to note that these specimens from Tsumeb are considered world class for the species.
