NOTE - no attempt has been made to polish, clean or otherwise make this knife more attractive for photos. Wiped over with an oily rag!
A vintage RG-26 Boot Knife, post-sale to United Cutlery by A/G/Russell. I’ve never been able to work out why this company collapsed – always liked Rigid knives. Not sure of the date, but at a guess late 90’s to early 00’s.
Measures approximately 9 1/8 inches long overall, point to pommel end. Double edge dagger blade measures approximately 4 13/16 inches long, point to cross guard, measured in a straight line. Obverse ricasso stamped “RG-26 Stainless Steel Taiwan”. Obverse ricasso stamped with the (old) United logo with oval grid globe. Brass cross guard, rubber handles with checkered thumb and palm areas. Brass lined lanyard hole to rear. Black leather stitched sheath with embossed “R”. Well made with reinforced fast release pop fastener. Spring steel boot or belt clip to rear. Condition is very good with some light scratching to blade. Does not appear to have been sharpened. Very minor (less than 1mm) lateral grip movement not impacting heft of knife. No attempt made to tighten. Sheath good and supple with light age wear.
