A very important property of shungite is electrical conductivity. It gives a very simple method to check the real shungite from any fakes (as coal or graphite) or shungite imitations. One needs a battery, lamp and two wires. If you connect a battery to a lamp, and then touch a piece of shungite with wires, the lamp will flash.
PROPERTIES AND TYPES OF SHUNGITE
There is only one
shungite
open-pit mine in the world, which is located in Karelia in northwest Russia. It is customary to divide all mined shungite into three main types of shungite stones, differing in the content of carbon and fullerene.
The third type or type III (referred to as ordinary schungite)
. The carbon content in the rock is
30-50%
. It has a more dense structure and dense black color. This type of
shungite
is easily processed, molded and polished. This type of shungite stone is mainly used for the manufacture of pyramids, spheres, jewelry and handicrafts, massage products, harmonizers and other molded products.
The second type or shungite type II (Petrovsky schungite).
Carbon content
up to 75%
. It has black color and good hardness. Takes any form of traditional
shungite
forms or handycrafts and then polished.
The first type or shungite type I (Elite shungite)
. The carbon content is
89-98%
. It has a brilliant color with pronounced silvery.
Elite shungite
is a very fragile stone, it has multiple cracks and chips.
Elite schungite
is practically not subject to processing and therefore is mainly sold in an original form of various sizes - from crumb to large stones.
Elite schungite can have brown, gray or gold infusions. These are impurities of other minerals.
Shungite stones
can also have rusty patches, especially if stones are used in the water treatment process.
The smallest black dust is present everywhere and on all products, and especially on raw materials, and is the result of a normal chemical process. It is not allergenic and absolutely harmless to humans, animals and plants. Moreover, this
shungite dust
is widely used in cosmetics and in plant nutrition.
