NOTE - no attempt has been made to polish, clean or otherwise make this knife more attractive for photos. Wiped over with an oily rag!
A vintage small hunting knife with one piece stag grips by York Cutlery Co, Solingen. York was the trademark of Gross & Duultgen of York Stahlwarenfabrik in Solingen. Don’t know much else about them but they are listed in Goins. I believe this dates to the 1950’s or 60’s, possibly earlier. Regret, no sheath.
Measures approximately 7 5/8 inches long overall, point to pommel end. Clip point blade measures approximately 4 1/8 inches long, point to cross guard, measured in a straight line. Obverse ricasso stamped “635”. Reverse ricasso stamped York Cutlery Co Solingen Germany”. Brass Cross Guard. One piece stag grips with Dark Brown-Light Brown-Light Brown-Dark Brown spacers at each end. Polished aluminum pommel with fancy end. Brass ½ inch locking lug. Blade with staining and light pitting. Grips good. Hairline crack starting to appear on reverse grip. See photo.
