    THIS IS A
    VERY LARGE DISPLAY MINERAL SPECIMEN OF CALCITE PSEUDOMORP @ IKAITE.
    THE SPECIMEN IS
    APPROXIMATELY 20 X 18 X 16 cm
    .  IT
    WEIGHS ABOUT 4.5 LBS.
    THE SPECIMEN IS FROM
    25 MILES NORTH OF NIXON, WASHOE CO., NEVADA
    .  THE SPECIMEN WAS COLLECTED IN 1984.  IKAITE IS A RARE HYDROUS CALCIUM CARBONATE THAT DOESN'T EXIST AT ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS.  THE SPECIMEN COMES FROM A HOT-SPRING TUFA DEPOSIT THAT EXISTED ON THE SHORE OF ANCIENT LAKE LAHONTAN DURING THE PLEISTOCENE, WHICH COVERED MUCH OF THE WESTERN GREAT BASIN AT THAT TIME.  SEE PICTURES.  I WILL COMBINE SHIPPING WHEN POSSIBLE.  THANKS FOR LOOKING.
