COBALT-BLUE SPINEL IS VERY RARE. vivid blue spinel at 2 occurrences near Kimmirut-Trailside and Qila-are cobalt enriched ( up to 0.07 wt% CoO ) which is responsable for its intense coloration       ( see D'Ippolito et al., 2015, Chauviré et al., 2015 ). The bright blue color of spinel at these occurences makes them of significant gemological and economic interest.
