I have used one like this for many years with no problems. Blade has a very small nick in it, but it will sharpen out with no blade loss....Photos are the best description!

    Used, Vintage,Western fix blade, Official Boy Scouts Of America. Brass guard, No Sheath....8 1/2'' X 4 1/2'' blade. The leather spacers are tight, but seem to have shrunk up a bit. I have used one like this for many years with no problems. Blade has a very small nick in it, but it will sharpen out with no blade loss....Photos are the best description! The stamping on this one is in great condition, It just was stored for many years in it's sheath(which fell apart beyond repair). I personal think that the handle could be soaked in something to make the spacers swell out a bit? Any way, find or make a sheath, and give it to the Boy Scout in the family....Bid this one up!!!!!
